Feng shui decorating often makes use of plants to increase the amount of wood chi (also spelled as qi) within a space. Wood chi is the chi that is associated with new beginnings and momentum. But an excess of wood chi might result in high levels of aggression and impatience. Feng shui is all about creating a balanced, pleasing environment so too much wood energy is not a good thing. It is important to remember that only living plants have wood energy. Once a plant is no longer living it will either have neutral chi or sha chi. There is some controversy about decorating with dried plants. Some feng shui consultants argue that the intention of the person overrides any negative chi that might be associated with dried out plants and others argue that the sha chi remains attached to the dried plant no matter what. With a touch of creativity you can use plants in your decorating along with any of the other four aspects of chi. The aspects of chi are:metal,
water,
wood,
fire, and
earth. There are some basic tips to keep in mind when decorating with plants:Your plants should be healthy. This is because dead and dying plants are no longer associated with living chi but possess sha chi. Sha chi is sometimes translated as "death breath". Sha chi is regarded as being negative chi, and obviously you want to minimize the amount of negative energy in your space. As an aside, by taking good care of your plants you are re-affirming your commitment to take good care of yourself and make use of the opportunities that feng shui may assist you in creating. (This is more of a modern psychology principle though).Soft leaved plants with flowing leaves are generally good plants to use. You want to avoid prickly or sharp leaved plants. This is because the spikes create sha chi. (This is a general rule in feng shui - sharp, pointy items create negative chi).Common plants that can be used as feng shui cures include lucky bamboo. Other used plants include palms and ferns. Palms are easy to care for and visually attractive. Palms should have soft leaves. For office plants bamboo or palms are probably best as they are super easy to look after. As a general rule cacti are regarded as being inauspicious plants.Feng shui is all about creating a pleasing environment so you would not want to introduce a plant that is displeasing to you. This would include any plant that causes you to have an allergic reaction. (This is really just advanced common sense!)What can you use plants for in feng shui decorating?Plants can be used in corners to decrease the amount of metal energy in the space.
Plants can also be used in long hallways to slow down the flow of chi.
Plants can be used to increase the sense of urgency in a space.
If the plant has flowers the color of those flowers can also represent another element (aspect of chi).Plants can naturally be included in most rooms of the house and create an appealing scene.Feng shui decorating with plants can combine the energy of wood and other elements by using pots made from different materials or with different colors.

If you live in an apartment, or ever have in the past, then you likely already know that you really are limited when it comes to being able to decorate or make changes to your space. For those trying to design and decorate their space using the Feng Shui method, this can prove a difficult hurdle to overcome, but it can be done. One problem that many apartments have is that the doorways are often larger than standard, or too small. This can negatively affect your chi, and is one of the first areas you will need to focus your attention on. If you have overly large doorways, counteract their negative affect by placing chimes near the doors. For unusually small doorways, strategically placed mirrors can be a quick, effective fix.Clutter is also a major problem that detracts from your chi, especially if it is centered on the main entryway of your home. If you are in the habit of leaving your shoes, hats, or coats by the door, you need to break the habit, because to maximize your chi, this area needs to remain open and clutter-free.Water fountains and fish tanks can be a great way to boost your chi, but they have to be placed properly. Putting these items in the wrong places in your home can negatively impact several areas of your life, so this is a crucial step. Take the time to do your homework as to where these items should be positioned for maximum Feng Shui benefit in your apartment.Natural elements are also a critical part of the Feng Shui decorating scheme, so wooden furniture, especially dining sets, are best. If you have a glass, marble, or metal dining suite, consider selling or trading for a more traditional wooden suite. Also, it is important that the dining room have adequate space for the table and chairs, so that you can move freely around all sides of the table. You especially want to make certain your entryways and doors are not blocked by dining room furniture!Your entryway is an important area in your home or apartment, and it is important that it is light and airy. If you do not have any windows in this space, try to add some light sconces on the walls, and enhance the space with mirrors or some other soothing elements. These are just a few of the ways you can boost your chi, even if you do have limited space to work with. Decorating your home or apartment in the Feng Shui method can really enhance your life, so take the time to look into other small changes that you can make around your home!

By decorating your room using the decorating ideas of feng shui, you can pick different furniture and colors just by following different decorating feng shui tips. Something to keep in mind is that the purpose of decorating a room using feng shui is to help increase the romance and partnerships as a pair and helping single persons find partners. Different tips used for feng shui normally suggest looking objectively at a bedroom and ensuring you have two of everything, which promotes paring. Pairing everything in the room means pairing candles, statues or end tables. Unpaired furniture that is intended for single beds will also need a double bed in the place of a single bed.Artwork in these rooms will also require pairing, including any pictures you might hang or place on shelves in the room. For example, lone men or women will need a partner inside of a picture. Bed sheets should also be clean and surrounded by decorating that is fit to your own personal taste, as well as the taste of your partner. Free flowing energy from inside the bedroom includes removing all of the items from underneath the bed as well as any work-related items in your room, such as computers and work out equipment. Items such as these should be in a place for working and not inside the bedroom.Your bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. Your bedroom is the place where you get your night's sleep. Feng shui tips can help improve your night's sleep, improving your sleep patterns. The colors inside of the room play important roles when decorating in feng shui. The most preferred colors for the bedroom are relationship colors of bagua, such as reds and shades of pink. These colors are not always preferred by men, so try using dark maroon colors or even mauve. Round shapes or oval shapes are also encouraged and not sharp angles because they do not encourage harmony.Even what you find at the head of the bed can affect your night's sleep. If you have too many books sitting on a bookshelf at the head of a bed can lead to disorder and confusion while you are sleeping. Covering your television will help as staring at the screen will affect your night's sleep. For additional sleeping purposes, have a wooden bed instead of a metal bed as those conduct electricity. Tips from feng shui suggest that you keep your lighting from being too bright or too dim. Also, avoiding large mirrors keeps from startling you at night. The headboard should be against a wall with no windows behind the headboard. This provides more support. The bed should also be put in an area where you can see people as they come into the bedroom. By following these feng shui tips, your sleep habits should improve.

Feng Shui is the Chinese art of decorating by placing everything in a specific way to create a good balance in your life. The translation of Feng Shui means "wind and water". The way you arrange the furnishing in your home is believed to create harmony and well-being in your life. It is a way to get in touch with nature to increase your health and prosperity. When decorating with Feng Shui there are some basic rules that you will need to follow. Some of these are listed below.· Choose the color of your home carefully because different colors affect your attitude, health and financial situation. For instance, yellow signifies longevity, red is the symbol of luck, green is growth and peace and white is the symbol of death. Of course, the different variations of each color will have their own unique energy.· Keep your home free of clutter. This is especially true for doorways. A clutter home is said to hold in old and bad energy and it obstructs your path to fortune and happiness.· Place your furnishings so you can see the door. Having your back to the door creates bad energy. If you must have your back to the door then you need to place a mirror in a position where you can still see the doorway.· Use plants to enhance your decor and create harmony. The plants with round leaves are recommended.· Avoid objects with sharp corners and extreme lighting overhead.Following these few simple rules can help you create harmony in your life. The good energy that you create will help you prosper physically, financially and emotionally. It is a wonderful way to have a beautiful home and flourish in every aspect of your life.

Feng shui is all about creating good energy in your home, and the result will be prosperity and abundance in all areas of your life. So if you want to attract more money, then create an abundant, prosperous, energy in your home. Suggestions include using the feng shui money frog, placing furniture a certain way, using specific colors, etc.But what about going directly to the source? Feng Shui your ACTUAL money? I was inspired to explore this possibility when I read the book Apartment Therapy, by Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan. Gillingham-Ryan doesn't talk about feng shui per se, but he does discuss the physical and non-physical elements that comprise a comfortable, peaceful home that functions perfectly for its owner. If one could achieve this in his or her financial life, it could produce financial peace of mind on multiple levels. So what are the elements? Gillingham-Ryan applied these elements to the home, but I am going to apply them to your finances.
Bones - this is the physical structure of your home, or in our case, your money. What accounts do you have? How is it organized? Are there old accounts you never look at? These old accounts will result in stagnant, stuck energy because they have no current role in your financial structure.
Breath - this is how your accounts are arranged or coordinated and how money flows between them. Arrangement might include where things are kept or invested or how you review or check different accounts. If accounts are properly arranged and maintained, then money flows between them without redundancy, and doesn't stagnate in accounts where it serves no purpose.
Head - this is the actual purpose of your money, relative to the different accounts where it resides. Why do you have money in each account? What does it do for you? Do you have a goal/purpose for money, but no actual place to put it? When you look at your accounts, do you see a cohesive purpose innate in the structure?
Heart - this is the most difficult element of money to quantify, and the trickiest to define. It starts with the question: How do you feel about your money, structure, accounts, investments, etc.? Does it give you vigor, or make you feel tired? Do you feel confused or clear?
I think these elements are the perfect place for someone to self-diagnose their money issues and coordinate their practical situation with how they feel about it. I recommend creating a visual map of your different accounts, with connectors showing how money flows between the accounts. You can note what purpose each account has for you, and then start to clarify for yourself what is working and needs revamping.Nothing compares to physically drawing it out on your own, and if you have a spouse, comparing it to their drawing. So I encourage you to do a drawing that encompasses all areas of your finances (it only takes a minute). Here are some possible actions you might take after mapping your money elements:
Bones - reorganize, consolidate, and/or close various accounts.
Breath - set up automatic arrangements between accounts, or the flow might make more sense simply by changing the bones (above).
Head - establish new accounts for new purposes, or separate money from one account into another to make each purpose clear.
Heart - research some new place to keep your accounts, with a company more in line with personal philosophy.
Although I am stealing the term "feng shui" and shamelessly using it for my own purposes, I encourage you to take a look at your financial picture using this concept. You will no doubt identify action steps you can take on your own that will give you immediate satisfaction, as well as find greater meaning in your financial picture. And, of course, you can continue to employ the more conventional feng shui tools to attract wealth, if you so choose!

I've talked quite a bit about bedrooms in the past and how important they are. Your bedroom is the room that is closest to you and has the biggest impact on you and all areas of your life. It has a very big impact on your health and energy, and it reflects your level of comfort and satisfaction with yourself and your life.It is important that you love your bedroom and everything in it and that it is kept clutter free. There are many other aspects of your bedroom that you may not have considered but they are very important, so I'd like to cover a few of them here.Books in the bedroom - many people like to read before they go to sleep. I certainly do. But it's also a good idea to really consider what types of books you're reading before you go to bed. Each book has different energy attached to it, such as the subject matter and even the energy of the author. I've said before that everything is alive with energy, and that includes books.Be careful about reading books that are about violence, tragedies or have sad endings. They can affect your sleep or even, on a deep sub-conscious level, begin to affect your health or your relationships. It's not a good idea to keep too many books in the bedroom. Just have the one that you're currently reading, or one that you like to refer to. A bookcase full of books in the bedroom brings too much energy to a space that needs to be calm.Don't treat it as an office or exercise room - the energy of the bedroom is about sleep and it's about relationships - your romantic relationship, as well as your relationship with yourself. It is your most personal space and the energy should be very calm and it should represent your relationship (or the one you'd like to have). When you bring in the energy of work and/or exercise you are bringing in energy that is very active, which will interfere with your sleep, your health,, your relationship and your life generally. It can very quickly create a sense of overwhelm. There is also a lot of stress that can be associated both with work and with exercise. With work, you may feel as though you can never 'switch off.' You always have work on your mind - of course you will if you don't have a personal space where you can detach from it. You are bringing in your work energy - the energy of your day at work - into your bedroom. This is a recipe for even higher levels of stress. As far as exercise is concerned, again, this is very active and not the right energy for a bedroom. It is often something that you feel you 'have' to do, rather than want to do (pressure). It may even be something that you feel you 'should' be doing but are not, in which case you are being surrounded with the energy of guilt and even failure.Don't overdo the furniture - you'll want to have plenty of space around the bed and to make sure that you don't have too much furniture in the room. Allow the energy in the room to circulate freely (including underneath the bed). Allow the room to breathe. If you like big, heavy, dark furniture, make sure the room is an appropriate size to accommodate it. You don't want the room to feel crowded or overwhelmed with furniture. Overall, you don't want your bedroom to be too dark (except at night when you turn the lights off).Generally speaking, lighter woods and other natural materials are best for beds and bedroom furniture. Avoid metal beds because they can conduct electro-magnetic fields.Think about where the furniture came from as well. If it was given to you by somebody else, or is left over from a previous relationship, think about the energy that it is carrying related to that person and your relationship with them. Is that energy positive and supportive? If not, you'll want to consider replacing it when you can. These are just a few simple tips that can help you turn your bedroom into a personal sanctuary that supports you in all ways.

Every residential and commercial building is affected by energy whether you can see it or not. Each year, millions of people buy, read, or come across books on how to go about setting up the arrangement of items, furniture and special features in the living space. 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit, in Chinese, it is called the Yin Metal Rabbit, or 'xin mao'. Before we begin evaluating the Feng Shui cosmic energy for the year, we must understand that Feng Shui affects our mood, psychology, luck and many other factors in life. By going with the flow of our own cosmic system, and aligning the energy around us, we can live a much more harmonious and auspicious life. The old saying goes "One Destiny, Two Luck, Three Feng Shui". Feng Shui has a definite bearing on our lives whether we choose to believe in it or not. Obviously education and the things we choose to do also affect our luck. If you are in a good cycle, with Feng Shui, you can enhance the good luck, on the other hand, if you are in a bad cycle, Feng Shui can help you reduce the negative impacts of bad luck. The following is a summary of what everyone can do with limited knowledge of Feng Shui. Please note that if you are uncertain about the Feng Shui configurations of your house, hire a professional to evaluate your house. Aside from annual Feng Shui energy, you may need to take into consideration the use of other traditional Chinese methods such as Flying Stars, Eight Mansions and so forth. The annual star also has an impact on the Flying Stars which is determined by the time factor. The use of trinkets, ornaments and statues may be considered. Although some may consider them superstition, certain animals such as the Dragon, Kirin, and Pi Yao Dogs, if placed properly, can have powerful defensive qualities. If you intend to make Feng Shui changes for 2011, be sure to do so after February 4th 2011.The Grand Duke of Jupiter (82.5º - 97.5º East)Every year, the Asians who are into Feng Shui are always concerned firstly about where the "Grand Duke" resides for the year. It is an area where there is energetic imbalance due to its interactions with the planet Jupiter and the cosmos. This is an area that should not be disturbed. For the Year of the Rabbit, the Grand Duke is located in the East, therefore, avoid renovations and major activities in this area of the house. The inauspicious 5 star also moved into this sector which makes the east sector an even more difficult area to deal with. Things to beware of and remedies in the East sector:• Avoid red and earth colors in this sector.
• Place six coins in a row or metal objects here.
• Brass, bronze, silver or gold dragon ornaments are also recommended.
• Pi Yao Dogs (preferably two) are of very popular ornaments used to appease the Grand Duke.
• If you have a different sector of entry into the house, try to use that instead of the east sector. If the east entrance is unavoidable, try not to bang or slam the door upon entry.
• Calabash or Wu Lu Gourd can also be used.Annual One White Star (Northeast)This year, the Romance Star flies to the Northeast sector. For those who are interested in enhancing their romance aspect of your lives, or increase the possibilities of meeting people, place metal and water objects in this area of your living space. The sound of metal such as a metal chiming clock or music box can do the trick. Water is also advised for this area. If you were to choose one or the other element, definitely go with metal since the Northeast area represents earth. With metal, you are providing a bridge between the earth and water energy of this area.Annual Two Black Star (South)The Two Black Star is often referred to as the sickness star. For 2011, this is not a good area at all as the sickness star is enhanced by the fire from the south. If the south area of your house is the bathroom, guestroom, laundry or storage room, then it is of less concern to you. In Flying Star Feng Shui, when the 2 and the 9 come together, there is a higher potential of misfortunes.Remedies:
• Place six metal coins in this area.
• Avoid major building work or renovations. If you need to do so, hire a professional to select a date for renovations.
• Brass ingot can be used to protect wealth.
• Metal Wu Lou Gourd (Calabash) is also recommended to reduce the effects of the sickness star.
• Avoid colors of red and the use of fire (eg. Candles and electronic equipment) in this sector.
• Some books that I have come across in Hong Kong recommended placing wood in this sector to fight the earth energy. Personally, I'd rather reduce the bad energy before fighting it.Annual Three Jade Star (North)This star is not as bad as the Two Black Star nor the Grand Duke yet you have to be aware of arguments and disputes in this area of the house or business unit. The remedy for this area is simple. Since the Three Jade Star possesses wood energy, utilize red colors and fire-related objects to reduce the strength of the wood. Avoid using water features in this sector for the year unless and Feng Shui consultant has diagnosed this area properly utilizing Flying Stars. Do not hang wind chimes or place metallic instruments in this area.Annual Four Green Star (Southwest)This is often referred to as the academic or scholar star. It governs not only academic and artistic talents, but also other parts such as career, travel, wisdom, education and interpersonal relations. Unfortunately, this star flies into the Southwest sector which possesses earth energy, as a result, the academic star is weaker for this year due to its conflict with the earth energy. In order to raise the energy of the academic star, you will need to place four bamboo sticks in a water vase. Do not place plants with earth in this area as you can end up creating conflict in this sector for those who are studying. Avoid placing metal objects as it will weaken the academic star. Having a wooden bookshelf or pagoda in this area is also auspicious.Annual Five Yellow Star (East)As mentioned earlier about the Grand Duke, this sector is not suitable for major activities. It is not all doom and gloom when we deal with Feng Shui. The key is identifying the bad sectors and finding the proper remedies. Many traditional Chinese cures involve the use of salt water or six Chinese coins in this area. Those methods may work but it is more important to avoid disturbing this sector. Utilize more metal in this area. Please refer to the above description on the Grand Duke for remedies in this area.Annual Six White Star (Southeast)The Six White Star is a good star for those who want to enhance their career luck. This is also considered to be a military star which is favourable for those who are politicians or officers. Since the Six White Star possesses metal energy while the Southeast possesses wood, we would require a bridge in order to enhance the metal. To do this, place both fire and earth related items together. Logically, you would have the wood feeding the fire, and the fire strengthening the earth, then the earth can strengthen the metal. You can also place a real quartz crystal or crystal spheres in this area to activate the energy of the White Star.Annual Seven Robbery Star (Center)This year, the 'Broken Soldier' star is imprisoned in the center palace. This star represents robbery, deception, theft, gossips and back stabbing. This star must be taken care of or there may be possibilities of loss of wealth and break-ins. Do NOT use red colors in the center of your house and try to avoid candles and electronic equipment here. Metal chimes and metallic instruments must also be avoided here. The best remedy for this sector is to place water here. If you intend to use water features in this sector, ensure that the water flows slowly. Water that is crashing or vibrant in this area would accidentally activate the robbery star. If in doubt, you can always upgrade your security and alarm system.Annual Eight White Star (Northwest)Out of all the stars, the eight star is the most auspicious since it is governing the flying star for this period until 2023. The auspicious earth energy of the eight star resides in a metal area where its fortunes are reduced for 2011. For those who like to place crystals at home, this is the area where it should belong in for this year. The best quality of handpicked quartz crystals is recommended and they have to be place properly and visible in the northwest for 2011. Wealth and fame will also be found in this area of the world and I will cover this next month in my annual predictions for 2011. If your bedroom is located in the northwest, you can also consider placing an amethyst crystal here to strengthen the Eight White Star. The northwest should also be free of clutter. Many Chinese tend to place 8 white pebbles aligned in a shape of a cross like the image shown in the stars chart. The white pebbles can also strengthen and solidify the earth energy in this sector.Annual Nine Purple Star (West) This is supposed to be a very auspicious star since it is considered a 'future' wealth star with an auspicious influence in this current period. For 2011, the Nine Purple Star, representative of fire energy is in conflict with the metal energy of the west. To make matters worse, the Annual Three Killings reside in this sector. Do not place metal objects in this area as you may end up disturbing the negative energy of the Three Killings. It is best to hold back renovations or major activities in this area of the house for 2011. Remedies for this area would include water and wood objects. Green plants or fresh flowers grown in water would be your best solution. If you are interested in placing Chinese ornaments to take care of the Three Killings, many would use 2 kirin dogs facing the Three Killings.SummaryThis report presents you with many options in terms of what you can do to disperse the negative energy for 2011 and enhance specific sectors of your home. This is by no means a cure-all method as the Annual Flying Stars is only one aspect of a complete system of Feng Shui. In order to maximize the use of Feng Shui, you may wish to consult a professional Feng Shui practitioner who would be able to calculate the Flying Stars of your house based on time, and incorporate the Eight Mansions theory to locate sectors related to your health, wealth and career. Remember that energies of the house change often and is by no means static. The incorporation of a professional Four Pillars of Destiny reading can provide a greater accuracy in determining all your favourable and unfavourable directions.Feng Shui is not just about balance and harmony, it is also about going with the flow of your own cosmic system. It is very difficult to maximize the use of Feng Shui methods without the understanding of the person and the cosmic energy that one possesses.I hereby wish everyone a happy and healthy Year of the Rabbit!

When selecting Feng Shui plants for your home or office, there are two plants in particular that you will want to have for good fortune and long term success luck. In this article we'll cover what they are, some tips for care and a few of the beneficial locations.1. Lucky Bamboo or bamboo plant. The "Lucky Bamboo" plant is noted for retaining the positive energetic qualities you desire in a plant. Lucky Bamboo (which, interestingly enough...is not actual bamboo!) grows best in water and thrives well in containers that have stones or pebbles, rather than soil. The plant needs a fair amount of indirect light and requires little direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight will cause the leaves to yellow. In Feng Shui, bamboo has long been regarded as a strong symbol of good fortune and tenacity. Because the plant thrives relatively easily, with little hands on maintenance, it retains a quality of independence and easy growth which strongly supports career and business success. It is an ideal plant for people who don't have a green thumb, but still want the living cure benefits of a healthy lucky plant in close proximity. You can order Lucky Bamboo online, but chances are you will be able to locate an appropriate plant at major retail stores in your area. Be sure the plant you choose is healthy--avoid plants that have yellow leaves or stalks. Bamboo plants are strong, but they do need adequate water and the occasional dose of plant food in order to thrive long term.Good placements for bamboo plants are in your office, in the career area and also in the wealth corner. If you choose a smaller plant, a good location is on your desk toward the back left corner. The plant embodies new growth and opportunities...exactly the type of energy you want for your career or business!2. Invite Feng Shui money plants into your life. There are two plants that are considered "money plants" and have gained the reputation of attracting wealth for their owners and for the businesses they grace with their presence. The first is known formally as 'Pachira'.This Feng Shui plant embodies and harmoniously blends the five elements, creating a powerful living cure capable of attracting great wealth. The plant is not appropriate for a desktop though, as it can grow to be quite large. It is often displayed in corners of rooms where it can easily arouse and clear any stale energies residing there. This money plant does not require a lot of extra care--just the average amount of watering and indirect sunlight. The second Feng Shui plant associated with money and wealth is a biennial known scientifically as "lunaria annua". Most appropriate for the wealth corner of your garden, this plant is one that self propagates readily, symbolizing the multiplication of money. The seed pods are a popular favorite when composing dried flower arrangements, giving you the ability to transport a touch of wealth indoors! All Feng Shui plants symbolize new growth, vitality and vibrant life, naturally providing the energy for success and opportunities. See where you can apply these powerful living plant cures to your needy areas and enjoy the results!

Congratulations! You just have added another new love to your life - your baby.I'm sure you must have done all your home work and prepared everything you can possibly
think of, such as baby announcements, baby hampers, baby leash, baby names book, baby
photos, baby presents, baby shower favors, baby shower invitation wording, baby shower thank
you cards...etcBut wait a minute...what about baby room decoration? You are a strong believer in the power of feng shui because you've heard a lot of good
things about it. Even Donald Trumps employs feng shui experts as his consultant, why not
make sure the baby room is well decorated with the best feng shui setup as a kind of welcome
present to the wonderful newborn? When it comes to decorating the baby room with appropriate feng shui setup, the first thing
that needs to be done right is to put the baby bed in the right position. Since your baby
will be sleeping most of the time - at least for now, the bed should be located in front of
a solid background such as a wall, rather than being put in the middle of the room with no
wall on either side as support. The bed being right next to some kind of support will ensure
that the baby will be resting soundly and peacefully - you know how babies are - their
energetic pattern is still very dynamic and thus very vulnerable to any influences from the
environment.Any sharp objects are to be as far away from the baby's room as possible. In I-ching
philosophy, sharp objects are of the 'fire' element, which also denotes the characteristic
of dynamic changes. When sharp objects such as plants with needle-like leaves are placed in
the room, the already dynamic-by-nature baby will be even more dynamic; therefore, the
parents or babysitters will find it very hard to calm the baby down. Many more techniques to
pacify the baby will need to be called upon. The lighting of the baby room needs to be blended well together - not too dark, nor too
light either. Too dark will be too much with the 'yin' energy whereas too light will be with
the 'yang' energy. It's not a good idea to be over one way or the other. As baby perceives
the outside world via the light pathway a lot, blending the lighting well will ensure much
harmonious energy in the room for the newborn, which is of the utmost importance.Make sure also to neutralize any unusual odors in the baby room, as bad or undesirable odors
are of the 'earth' element which when ignited will create unsettled feelings within the
baby's digestive system. Many a case of stomach discomfort that leads to extensive crying or
even more serious conditions are due to the fact that the digestive system of the baby is
under negative influences, be they from the physical or non-physical origins. In a nutshell, besides decorating the baby room with all the fancy stuffs, make sure to
equip the room with good feng shui - your baby will thank you for it! You will function
better as a parent too.

Feng Shui philosophy contends: if the home is in harmonious surroundings and arranged in an harmonious manner, the inhabitants of that home will reflect that harmony and live more harmonious lives. Though showing up in the U.S. mainstream only twenty years ago, feng shui (füng sch'way), the Chinese art and science of how to site, construct, and design a home, traces its beginnings back at least 3,000, and some say, as much as 5,000 years ago.In olden times feng shui knowledge provided such common sense guidelines as: don't build your grass roof shack on a windy mountain top or too close to a river that may overflow its banks. It was also considered poor feng shui to position your stove opposite the front door, as a gust of wind coming in will flicker the flame and your rice won't cook properly. From these basics evolved profound principles of how to create a harmonious living environment. Principles that apply to any home built in any era or anywhere on planet earth.Feng Shui Solutions
As no one can expect to get a home with 100% good feng shui, don't get too neurotic if you have or find a home with a bunch of feng shui problems. Feng shui is not just about identifying problems, but also about suggesting solutions. Though occasionally a remodeling is needed, most problems can be removed, blocked, or deflected by using interior design arrangements in accordance with feng shui principles.Apply as many feng shui solutions as possible. If you have enough good Forms to give you 70-75% good feng shui, you are already doing quite well. Then, if you either apply the power of symbolism according to the 3-Door Bagua, especially with the added power of prayer (mantra, mudra, visualization), or if you adjust your world according to such Compass School techniques of Eight Mansion and Flying Star Feng Shui, you should be really doing good.Whether you are a Black Sect or other non-compass style practitioner, or a Compass School devotee, don't sweat the small stuff, just make sure you avoid some of the following issues. But remember, these are guidelines and some similar real world situation may "feel" different and be considered fortunate on second consideration.House Site - Location, Location, Location
Regardless of how expensive a home might be, location can be fortunate or unfortunate. If fortunate, we move up in life; if unfortunate, it's all downhill. So whichever side of town you live, choose wisely. Things to avoid might be living across from a cemetery, with a steep cliff towering above, too close to a noisy roadway, a corner lot that gets lots of traffic turning toward it, at a t-juncture with cars coming directly to it, on the outside bend of a road, or with a generator substation, microwave cell phone tower, nuclear power plant, or toxic dump relatively close.Even using hedges to block or bagua mirrors to bounce negative energy away, these are difficult situations to resolve satisfactorily. In choosing my current residence a turned down a better deal located on Bunker Street for one located on Lakeridge Court, reasoning that I didn't want to get stuck or hide out in a bunker. I've been in my house 6 years, the house on Bunker has had three different owners.Bedroom - The Most Important Room to Consider
Sleep needs to be restful to be rejuvenating, and is the first room I consider, reasoning that if I'm not able to get a good night's sleep, how can I expect to handle the unexpected stresses of work, family, and the rest of life's sudden challenges. As the bed should be the first thing to bring in, Stand at the bedroom door, and imagine where your bed will be positioned.Avoid the following situations: placing the headboard of your bed with a refrigerator, toilet, or a strong source of electromagnetic radiation (such as a breaker box) on the other side of the headboard. Avoid windows behind the bed, as a window "could" break, or under a beam or drop ceiling which "could" fall as both of these will make you feel vulnerable. Don't rationalize that it wouldn't break, because the unconscious rarely listens to logic. In an argument with "what if," what if always wins.Next consider the relationship of the bed to windows and doors. Avoid a home that puts your bed in direct line of the entrance into the bedroom. Thresholds are highly symbolic to the unconscious - people and possibly 'things' from other dimensions can come through these portals. Even my great grand mother who came from eastern Europe was recorded as having said, "never sleep with your feet toward the bedroom door, because that's the way they carry you out."An entrance on either side of the bed in direct line of the torso is just as detrimental, as the person sleeping on the side of the bed sleeps metaphorically with one eye open all night in the event someone or something might come through the door. With any of these above situations, the adrenal glands' 'fight or flight' mechanism is activated throughout the night continually undermining the immune system by rerouting the blood flow to the arms and legs in anticipation of taking emergency action.Bathroom in the Back Left Corner of the Floor plan
Regardless of which system of feng shui you are utilizing, a bathroom in the far left corner of the floor plan is tough on money. I haven't met anyone with this configuration that has confirmed that their money was going down the toilet.Their are many other configurations from front door in direct view of a back door or window, to most cases of stairs coming down to the front door that reflect money problems, and almost all are resolvable with proper placement of furniture and decorations. But a bathroom in the far left corner is unlikely to be moved, and though worth trying, is challenging to block or deflect. For the Sake of the Children
It is amazing and dismaying, how often parents neglect considering the conditions of their child(ren)'s room, treating their kid or kid's like second class citizens who should be happy to get whatever they can get. All that I listed above should apply equally to all members of the household.More than once I have come to evaluate the feng shui of a home and found a refrigerator, an air condition unit, or pool pumpon the other side of the wall the kid's headboard is on. Or a door in direct line of the kid's bed with the parents wonder why the kid has frequent allergy or flu like symptoms. Be sure to give your children the best feng shui possible.Feng Shui Creates Harmonious Homes in Many Ways
There are many fine books that teach the principles and concepts of the various approaches of feng shui. However, my book, Choose the Best House for You, The Feng Shui Checklist, is the textbook for all the problems and solutions that have to do with oldest system of feng shui related to siting, construction, and room configuration. And the Checklist format makes it easy for the beginner to use as you just have to go down the list of likely problems, decide on which one applies to you, turn to the page to read the illustrated description, and then apply one of the recommended solutions. With my book in hand, you will have no problem choosing the best house for you.

Have you ever felt that a home just didn't feel good? Or that it had bad vibes? Sometimes the signs of good and bad Feng Shui are not so obvious. The following outlines what makes for good and bad Feng Shui in a home. You can use these as a general guideline when shopping for a home.Even when it comes to Feng Shui, it's still location, location, location. Why? Because you can't change it! You can change price and condition but not location. SO that is where we will start:1. Preowned? Good Feng Shui if the previous owners are moving to a bigger house, job promotion and are moving away or won the lottery - this would all be good energy.2. Lot: wider in the back or square is good Feng Shui. Reverse pie lots are not. Square or rectangular shaped lots are considered ideal.3. Cul-de-sac: be sure not to be at the T intersection of the cul-de-sac to the road - this considered bad Feng Shui. You will end up getting the glare of headlights into the front of your house in the evenings.4. Fire Hydrants: can't have those in front of the house: bad Feng Shui as it represents your wealth being 'washed' away.5. Bedrooms: should not be located over the garage, kitchen or laundry room. In addition beds should not share a common wall with a toilet. Master bedrooms should ideally be north facing and the bed should back onto the south wall facing north. In addition there should be no mirrors across or beside the bed.6. No bathrooms over a dining room or kitchen. (This would seem obvious - no leaking toilets over my Turkey dinner!)7. Home office: should be in the southeast portion of the home. Morning sun brings good energy and the south sun provides daytime sunshine to keep you energized throughout the day.8. Homes facing south and backing north are ideal.9. The flow of the home is important. The front door should not open up directly to the up or down stairwells. Nor should the front door 'see' the back door (have direct line from front door to back door). This allows the chi or energy to walk right on through the back door. The energy should be allowed to meander back and forth throughout the home. You also do not want to see the fireplace from the front door.10. The kitchen, nor the stove should be in the centre of the home. Nor should the kitchen face a toilet door (bathroom). This door should be closed at all times.11. Office desks should back onto a solid wall - not a window. Nor should a desk or bed face an angled wall.12. Living too close to a cemetery brings grief into the air - not a good thing.Feng Shui's aim is to balance to all aspects of our lives by creating an environment that has good chi or energy. You can do this by firstly looking for a home that fits the locational aspects. The interior of the home can always be changed. But the more you know up front about good energy - or Feng SHui the sooner you will be able to recognize it in your next home.Happy House Hunting!

According to feng shui, decorating your bedroom does not only involve choosing the right furniture and colors, but also on following feng shui tips when decorating the room. The main thing kept in mind in feng shui while decorating a bedroom is to improve the romance and partnership in a pair, and to help a single person find a partner. Feng shui tips suggest to first take an objective look at the bedroom and to make sure that there are two of everything in the room to promote pairing. This means even the candles, end tables and statuaries too should be in pairs here. And if the furniture is meant for a single bed, at least have a double bed placed in the room. The artwork in the room should have couples and not lone figures of a man or woman. Bed sheets should always be clean while the decoration made according to your taste, and your partner's taste. To ensure the free flow of energy in the bedroom, feng shui tips include removing all stuff under the bed and to remove work related material like computers and exercise equipment from the room. This is because work should be in the work place, and not in the bedroom.
The bedroom is an important room of the house as this is where you get to get a good night's sleep. With the help of the right feng shui tips, it is possible to make this night's sleep a much better one. The color of the decoration of the room has an important role in feng shui. Preferable colors to use for the bedroom are red, pink or shades of pink as these are all colors of the relationship area of bagua. As these colors may not always suit guys, you could also consider using darker maroons and mauves in the room. While round and oval shapes are encouraged in the room, sharp angles are not as they don't promote harmony.
To get a good night's sleep, be careful of what is found at the head of the bed. Too many books on a bed bookshelf leads to clutter and confusion at night. Televisions have to be covered for a good night's sleep as its eye staring at you will not give a good night sleep. Wooden beds are better then the electricity conducting metal beds. Feng shui tips suggest using lighting that is not too dim or bright in the bedroom while too large mirrors should be avoided as this will only startle you at the middle of the night. The bed headboard should always be against a solid wall and not windows, for better support. The bed should be placed where it is possible to easily see people entering the room. With all these feng shui tips, sleeping should be more enjoyable in the bedroom.
